Shiny Hair

Shiny hair...There's more to a healthy head of hair than shampoo and conditioner. That shine and strength is also dependent what what goes into your body. The nutrients we get from food not only sustain us, but they help our hair and nails to grow. A healthy diet will show not just in the color of your cheeks, but in the shine of your hair.

Here are a few good foods that will improve the shine and strength of your hair.

1) Green vegetables like spinach and broccoli are good sources for Vitamins C and A. These produce Sebum, the natural oil secreted through your hair follicles.

2) Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, high in protein and iron and a good source of Vitamin B-12. Without omega-3 fatty acids, your scalp will be dry and your hair will look dull.

3) Chicken is also high in protein. If you don't get enough protein your hair will be brittle with split ends. Adequate protein levels will strengthen your hair.

4) Whole grain bread is healthier all around and will give your follicles the zinc, iron and vitamin B levels they need. Avoid white bread. All the goodness has been removed in the processing.

5) Eggs are rich in protein and contain Vitamin B-12 which is imortant for strength and health of your hair.

6) Oysters are another source of zinc and are also important antioxidents.

7) Carrots are a good source of Vitamin A. They improve vision, but they also ensure a healthy scalp and a healthy head of hair.
